Do you want to become an embalmer? A career in the embalming body is a rare choice. It
is an act of restraining the dead bodies from decomposition by treating them
with the chemical.
Below is some basic information for building a
career in embalming –
1. Qualification - It can vary in different
countries, usually you have to pursue a degree in funeral studies. It usually
takes two years. After the students complete their training (or internship)
& pass the exams they are given the license for practicing.
2.Pay scale - In differs according to the
demography & the demand. On an average, the salary lies between $32,000 to
$48,000. In the United States, the embalmers can make forty-four thousand
three hundred dollars in a year.
3. Embalming Body – The main work is to embalm
the arteries. The embalmers choose an incision point in the body. In the
arteries a mixture of chemicals called embalming fluid is passed. Generally it
takes 7.5 liters of fluid for the process.
4.Decomposition – An embalmed body takes 5-10
years to decompose. It can take longer time if the coffin is placed deep down
into the soil.
